In fact, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution provides: "Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . . "

Free exercise of religion is protected in the United States providing the belief is sincerely held. Lawyers state that means an individual's religious belief of any kind is protected and the practice of religion does NOT need to be part of any organized church, group or Coven.

Intentional encroachment on an individual's religion is actually forbidden, according to our First Amendment, unless the government can prove there's some grave concern for the social welfare of society (e.g., if your religion requires you to torment giants -- and those giants need protecting -- that practice of yours might be facing a problem in the court of law).
